If you live in Seattle, you’ve probably heard all the schpiels about buying local. Either because we’re finding more and more large stores have disgusting underbellies (i.e. Urban Outfitters-Anthropologie giving over 13K to groups who support anti-gay, pro-life, pro-ID teaching in schools — more at Awakened Aesthetic — and Victoria’s Secret using slave labor), or because we’ve realized that supporting local business builds community and culture and usually gives us better quality goods.
Either way, I hope you’re on board for the Buy Local movement. But whether or not you’re there yet, here’s something to help you along:

Seattle’s City Stimulus (www.citystimulus.com)
A bunch of Seattle businesses — eats and interests — have signed on with city Stimulus, offering great deals all week long when you bring in your City Stimulus card. In addition, for each $10 you spend at one of the CS locations, you get a stamp from them. When you reach 10 stamps, you get 10 free raffle tickets for some fantastic prizes at the City Stimulus closing party this Saturday. The closing party is sponsored by Havana, Butter London, and Cupcake Royale, so you know it’ll be great.
And even if you don’t plan on going to the closing party, you can still get your free City Stimulus card emailed to you and take advantage of the awesome deals around town.
You can find a list of participating businesses on City Stimulus’s site, but here are the ones that caught my eye:
4 Your Eyes Only – 25% off frames when purchased with any lens package.
I bought my glasses here and love them. The people who work there are incredibly friendly and the frames range from fresh to funky.
Anchovies & Olives – enjoy three (3) complimentary Oysters on the Half Shell with minimum food purchase of $25.
I’ve been meaning to try this restaurant. I drove by it a couple weeks ago and Agent Noir confirms it’s great.
Babeland – 15% off Sunday-Thursday. A free Silver Bullet with purchase Friday & Saturday.
Babeland started here in Seattle as a small shop and is now one of the most popular sex-accessory stores in the country (online). Take advantage of the clean, non-sketchy store with incredibly friendly and helpful employees — you won’t find much like it anywhere else.
Blackbird – 20% off all full priced items
For all you chic men out there, Ballard’s Blackbird is the place to pick up some nice items.
Caffe Vita – 10% off all products
With Caffe Vita’s all over town, you better believe I’ll be taking advantage of this one.
Homegrown – FREE cup of soup with the purchase of any WHOLE sandwich
How to Cook a Wolf – complimentary Prosciutto appetizer with minimum food purchase of $25
Two more eats I’ve been meaning to check out. I’ve heard rave reviews for both.
Oddfellows Cafe + Bar – 10% food
If you’ve been reading the blog for a bit and/or follow me on Twitter you know this is a favorite spot of mine.
Sway & Cake – 10% off any sale items and 20% off an regular priced merchandise
The best looking pair of pants I own is from Sway & Cake. Definitely worth signing up for City Stimulus and taking advantage of this offer!
Plus much, much, much more. There are tons of businesses offering deals with City Stimulus so don’t hesitate to get your butt over to the website and get your card. It’s fast and free and totally worth it! And the best part is that you know you’ll be supporting your city, Seattle, and the people who live here just like you.
What looks most intriguing to you on City Stimulus’ list? What are you dying to try for the first time with these deals?

It‘s quite in here! Why not leave a response?
