If you’ve ventured over to PEso’s in Lower Queen Anne any time in the past year, you may have noticed the space next door that was been renovated. That space has taken it’s time in being converted into a sort of sister restaurant to Peso’s,
Toulouse Petit
This slightly upscale Cajun restaurant boasts the same owners (and kitchen, I think) as Peso’s, and just opened yesterday evening. I work near Seattle Center and knew I had to check it out. Meaning only to grab a cocktail, I ended up staying for 2 1/2 hours with friends.
I managed to try out a delicious cocktail (the Lavande Royale) and a pick off their Absinthe menu, as well as share a handful of appetizers. We were in love with the crab over fried green tomatoes, spicy lamb sliders, and Parmesan grits. The Penn Cove Mussel salad wasn’t a favorite (not sure how I feel about cold mussels, even with cherry tomatoes, arugula, and accouterments), but the beet salad & green bean salad was!
I was absolutely in love with the interior of the place — you could tell the decor was chosen by whoever was the decision-maker at Peso’s, but it had it’s own Cajun flair. The lighting fixtures make it feel like you’re in an incredibly fancy swamp, and the tables are carved with southern & voodoo symbols. Very nice.
The wait staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful.
I would go here again for dinner not just happy hour (which, by the way, is from 4-5:30 & 10pm-close every night), to try out the gumbo or jambalaya in a heartbeat, but it’s definitely a great choice for cocktails and small plates as well.
Bring friends, have a good time, eat fantastic food. This place is a winner. (Let’s just hope it doesn’t get as “bro-y” as Peso’s, Ozzie’s & Chopsticks huh?)
I’m also beginning to wonder if they serve brunch…. mmmmm….

It‘s quite in here! Why not leave a response?
