Most simply, this blog is a place to document neat things to eat and do in Seattle.

In a city so dreary 9 months of the year, it’s easy to find yourself sitting at home in front of the TV or your computer day after day. And when you live somewhere for long enough you stop exploring and start to forget that there are thousands of things to do that you haven’t yet tried, or forgot that you even liked!

After living in Seattle for four years I realized that I was still constantly discovering new things. I realized it’s possible to be a tourist in your own city. I also realized that a Google search for “things to do in Seattle” yields a bunch of typical & boring results, so I wanted to document all the great things I’ve found here for everyone else.

I’ve found that there are things to do year round — even during those icky winter months — and hopefully Eats and Interests (E’s & I’s for short) will help you get out and partake in everything great Seattle has to offer!

This blog has no ‘mission’, just casual intent. The point isn’t to be a comprehensive guide, or a niched blog about just one thing (i.e. “the best of Seattle’s restaurants”). There are enough blogs and websites claiming to do both of those — claiming to “give you the very best.” I can’t guarantee that what I write about is “the best,” but it’s all enjoyable and it’s all definitely noteworthy — most of the time without the pricetag that “the best” usually comes with. This also isn’t a critique blog — I don’t, and won’t, usually talk smack about a place or activity. E’s & I’s is simply a collection of neat things that any ‘casual Kathy’ can get out and do on a whim.

Hey, if I can show the guys in the above picture (they’re all from NY) a good time around the city, I think I can find fun things for anyone to do — including myself, who I think is the hardest to please!

And, of course, if you have any recommendations, feel free to send them my way!
